Memorial Services & Grief Support

The dying process, and then losing someone you love, can be difficult. And it can be a time of meaning and tenderness.

If you or someone in your family needs spiritual support during or after the dying process, Kelly is available for meetings by video or in-person. Sessions are typically one hour, and rates are below.

Sometimes people like to plan their own memorial service before dying. If so, Kelly can meet with them to do so. Otherwise, she will work with the family to create an personalized memorial service that honors your loved one's personality and beliefs while also comforting those grieving the loss.

The service itself may take place any time after their death: from a few day to months later. The service might include the following elements:
  • A eulogy (a reflection given by the minister or someone who knows the person)
  • Poems and other readings
  • Prayer or meditation
  • Ritual
  • A time to remember the deceased with stories and memories
  • Singing or other music
  • Silence
During the planning process, Kelly offers pastoral care and support for the family along with time for reflection, which can be healing and comforting.

More about Kelly.
Pastoral support during the dying process is $75/hour.
Planning and leading a memorial service without a eulogy:  $350

Planning and leading the service including a eulogy: $450

"Grief is praise of those we have lost. Our own souls who have loved and are now heartbroken would turn to stone and hate us if we did not show such praise when we lose whom we love... If we do not grieve what we miss, we are not praising what we love. We are not praising the life we have been given in order to love. If we do not praise whom we miss, we are ourselves in some way dead. So grief and praise make us alive."  Martín Prechtel
